Feature Friday: The lovely ladies from “Bones Rum”
Time and time again, we hear the same phrase on our tours; “We never would’ve found this place had we not been on this tour.” Our guests love to discover new and unexpected places they wouldn’t have found had they landed on the island and simply used Google to guide their visit.
We hear that phrase most often at Bones Rum, located on Veterans Drive (right along the waterfront) in Downtown Charlotte Amalie! So here’s how it goes. You get to drink as much rum as your heart desires. Yes! I said that. All you can drin
k rum. And not just that. Rum that’s distilled right here on the island.
Detra James, who runs the Daiquiri Bar and store manager, Jakeba Hyman make you feel at home from the moment you enter this bar/souvenir shop.
As you walk through the door, the first thing that catches your attention are the Daiquiri machines that sit behind the bar. Bushwhacker, Painkiller and other typical Caribbean mainstays are available for customers. They hand you a cup and the fun begins!
Resident bartender Detra captures the attention and hearts of our guests with her vibrant personality and warm smile. She offers up a ‘Bones on the Beach’ Daiquiri which she concocted during her down time mixing different daiquiri’s to create her own unique blends. You sample the daiquiris with the Bones Rum which is a smooth, dark aged Rum that goes down well.
It is truly a fun island experience to indulge in as you traverse the streets of downtown Charlotte Amalie.
